BRICK RESTORATION
Signs Your Brick Needs Restoration
Dark grime, white powdery salts (efflorescence), green algae near the ground, rust or paint stains, and mortar joints that have worn back from the brick face all point to a wall that needs restoration. Cleaning with the wrong method, like high pressure or sandblasting, can strip the hard outer face of the brick and speed up damage. Restoration uses the gentlest method that works, then repairs and protects the wall.

Restore the Original Look
Years of grime, efflorescence and staining hide the real colour of your brick. Careful cleaning brings it back without wearing away the brick face.

Protect Against Water Damage
Repointing open joints, replacing spalled brick and applying a breathable water repellent where suitable keeps water out of the wall.

Add Value and Curb Appeal
A restored brick facade makes an older home or building look cared for, which matters whether you plan to stay or sell.
Quality Service
Assessment & Test Patch
We assess the brick, mortar and type of staining, then clean a small test area so you can approve the result before we do the whole wall.
Gentle Cleaning
We clean with low-pressure water and cleaners matched to the stain, protecting windows, plants and surfaces around the work area.
Our Process
At Monarch Masonry, brick restoration is about bringing the wall back without causing new damage. We test cleaning methods on a small area first, then clean the wall using low-pressure water and cleaners suited to the brick and stain. Once the surface is clean we replace spalled or broken brick, repoint failed joints with matched mortar and, where it makes sense, apply a breathable water repellent. The result is a wall that looks right and is protected for years to come.
Repair & Repoint
We replace damaged brick and repoint worn or cracked joints with mortar matched to the original colour and strength.
Protect & Final Review
Where suitable we apply a breathable water repellent, clean up the site and walk the finished wall with you.

REVIEWS

Will cleaning damage my brick?
Not when it is done properly. We avoid sandblasting and high pressure, test on a small area first and use the gentlest method that removes the staining.
Can you remove white staining (efflorescence)?
Yes. We clean off the salts and, more importantly, find the moisture source that is carrying them to the surface so the staining does not keep coming back.
Should my brick be sealed?
Not always. Brick must be able to dry out. When a sealer is a good idea, we use a breathable water repellent rather than a coating that traps moisture.
Do you restore commercial and older buildings?
Yes. We restore brick on homes, low-rise commercial buildings and older properties, using lime-based mortars where the original masonry needs them.
